<\/figure><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\nRozemarlin Borkent is a Netherlands-based artist, born in 1987, who graduated from the Royal Academy of Art (KABK) in The Hague. Growing up next to the beach, she experienced the vast expanse of the shoreline as a fresh canvas for imagination, inspiring her to envision and dream in her own world. Through her work, she strives to capture the beauty of diversity in humanity and to immortalize the essence of the human soul.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rozemarlin\u2019s art has been featured in Vogue and exhibited at prestigious events like the PhotoVogue Festival and London Art Biennale. Her creations capture the beauty and complexity of human existence, inviting viewers on a journey of imagination and introspection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In her project \u201cI am that I am,\u201d Rozemarlin sought to portray the remarkable diversity of humanity in a beautiful, unique, and dignified way. Rather than perceiving cultural differences as a basis for judgment, she believes they should be celebrated as stunning facets of our shared human identity. To achieve this, she employs digital techniques such as Photoshop, morphing software, and AI, inspired by different cultures and time periods. The result is a series of striking, icon-like portraits. Beyond the aesthetics, this project serves as a reminder that we should embrace the stunning diversity that defines us as human beings and foster empathy and understanding across the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Building upon those themes, Rozemarlin\u2019s more recent works further explores vibrant color and composition, while emphasizing the strength of women and the unifying power of art. Suraya, for example, was derived from the Persian word for \u201cstar” and symbolizes a woman as precious as a jewel. Rozemarlin describes her as \u201cthe queen\u201d\u2014a portrait radiating power and beauty. Another work, Veda, draws inspiration from the Indian Holi festival. \u201cVeda\u201d means \u201cwisdom\u201d in Sanskrit and reflects the joyful energy and colors of Holi, a celebration of spring and the victory of good over evil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Flowers in her recent work symbolize new life, happiness, and love. Rozemarlin compares her careful use of color, form, and composition to a harmonious piece of music: fresh, innovative and in balance. With this interplay of elements, she invites viewers to reflect on the beauty of diversity and the power of human connection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
